Beeville, Texas ・May 3, 2017
Jaime Vela, the dedicated and “audacious” Head Band Director for the AC Jones Mighty Trojans, writes “Giving ourselves reasons for the bad breaks creates a challenge to finding solutions for success” in his article about the AC Jones Performing Arts program and their brilliant success this year. The article is featured in this month’s edition of Texas School Business magazine a publication dedicated to focusing on best practices and on the people who serve Texas schoolchildren.
Mr. Vela, was contacted by Dacia Rivers, the Editorial Director for the publication, Texas School Business and Insight. The success of the innovative and unique musical programs at AC Jones caught her attention and she thought that it would be a powerful subject for a column called “The Arts.”
“This was a wonderful opportunity for our students, this music program, and Beeville ISD to obtain some well-deserved positive publicity. I have been with the school district for 17 years. I have seen the ups and downs. This comes at a great time of turnaround.”
The article highlights the music classes at AC Jones High School and the amazing accomplishments and growth after years struggle. “I am very thankful for the students, parents, and staff that kept standing by our side during the hard years and I feel blessed that the dedication, persistence, and innovation is paying off.”
