TEA Visiting BISD on Friday, April 21, 2017
April 18, 2017 • Beeville, Texas
The Texas Education Agency’s Deputy Commissioner for Governance, A.J. Crabill, will be touring Beeville ISD this week, Friday, April 21st. This is exciting news for our District since a major focus of this positive visit is to see first-hand some of the innovative changes that have occurred in the last nine months. Among Mr. Crabill’s many responsibilities with supporting the agency's work is governance, system support & innovation and districts of innovation. He has served on the board of the Missouri School Boards Association, the executive committee of the Council of the Great City Schools, the Policy Committee for the National School Boards Association, was an Education Pioneers fellow, currently chairs the 2017 annual conference for the International Policy Governance Association, and has provided governance training to school districts all over the country in an effort to assist school board members in making mission-driven decisions that are crucial to improving student outcomes.
Prior to working for TEA, Mr. Crabill served eight years on the board of the Kansas City (MO) Public Schools. During his service to that community, many positive initiatives were put in place to move the focus back to the student as the center of the decision-making process.
The morning portion of Mr. Crabill’s visit will consist of campus visits and the afternoon will be devoted to time with our esteemed Board of Trustees.
