AC Jones All District Choir Auditions Yield Success
September 23, 2017 - Beeville, Texas
In the state of Texas, the All-State Choir audition process begins with approximately 25,000 students and is whittled down to 500 through a series of scheduled auditions. To earn a spot in the Texas All-State choir is an outstanding accomplishment that can open many doors for a young vocalist in the future. These students are given special consideration when auditioning for college music scholarships, which are awarded to music and non-music majors. Students will grow tremendously in their singing and music reading skills as they participate in this intense process. The audition rounds begin with District then progress to Region auditions, Pre-Area auditions and finally Area auditions.
Two years ago, our AC Jones Choir had a total of 4 students advance in the first round of District auditions. On Saturday, September 23, 2017, Mr. Galaviz, AC Jones Choir Director, took 44 students to audition in round one of the prestigious All District audition. Of those 44 students, 39 advanced to the Region auditions in November! There are 21 students and 2 alternates that advanced in the large school division and 18 with 1 alternate advanced in the small school division.
These dedicated students are well on their way to becoming part of an elite group of vocalist in the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Choir. In order to do so these students must follow through with the entire process until eliminated by audition, prepare daily OUTSIDE of school, maintain academic eligibility, know their music well enough to represent AC Jones in the best way and be prepared to always compete. We congratulate Mr. Galaviz and his dedicated team of students on this latest success and look forward to many more!
