Welders from AC Jones High School win competitive competition at Del Mar College

Beeville, TX (BISD – Welding students from A.C. Jones High School participated in the 2nd Annual Día De Los Muertos Welding Competition at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Approximately 200 welders took part in the event. 

Beeville Independent School District was represented by five plate welders, four pipe welders, and a rig welder team.  In the rig welding division, Beeville ACJ’s senior Ransom McElwain and junior Dalton Larkin won first place.  Ransom and Dalton used two gas driven welding machines and their tools to brother-in-law welded a 12” sch. 40 pipe in the 2G position. The welds were inspected and judged by current industry representatives who were impressed with the quality of welds that the Beeville students produced. 

Beeville CTE Welding Instructors Thomas Camacho, Elyssa Lauer, and Mark Boenig stated they were proud of the hard work, preparation, and determination of their students.  The instructors would also like to thank Del Mar College for hosting the event.  The next welding contest will be the 21st Annual Mike Mylnar Memorial Welding Contest on January 18, 2024, in Robstown, TX.
